The Track
The Story
The summer is just around the corner and the Shishvil group thought it would be a good idea, or even great, to go to the Southern district for the last time before it will get really hot as kilns.
The plan was very simple, two days in the south…
One day from Shizafon Junction to Eilat and another day from Eilat back to where ever we get to in the north, hopefully around Ramon Crater/Mitzpe Ramon.
We meet “early” Thursday morning and head to the southern district. We rode straight to Shizafon Junction and there we did our last preparations to get into the wild and start offroading.
After a few minutes of riding we meet a huge and very impressive sand dune (Ksui Sands). We took some shoots and continued.

On the way we went through Mikdash Ha’Nemerim (The Tigers Temple).
We rode through some more nice and interesting sites like this well.

We continued as planed and saw the amazing views of the Negev.

The things got interesting when we saw this little sign in the middle of the track.

We decided to take the bicycle lane and to have a bit more challenging ride and nicer view.
We ride very slowly as the track was a narrow single.
There were no special issues until we saw another sign that say “caution” ahead.

After a short examination we decided that it is not too difficult to pass this part and we moved on with the single going downwards.
There were a few tight rounds on the way but nothing really impossible.

The single track got interesting when we saw a sign that say “Pike up your bike on your shoulders” (Unfortunately, No photo here).
I don’t know when the last time you picked up an Adventure 990 on your shoulders, but we understood it is going to be tough.
Well… We thought about this for quit a long time. The alternative was going back the tight rounds but going up.
We decided to continue after checking the track and the alternative(s).

One by one we ride the bikes through the tight bicycle single, engines were off and everyone supported one each other.

The hour was already late. We all were very tired and the heating ground did not help us.
The first to “surrender” was Shneor (me). I felt dehydrated and very weak. I got into one of the crack in the ground and found some shadow.
Soon Avi and Yoav joined me for a rest

After a good rest, eating and drinking, we kept on with the original track for the day.

We finished the day around Be’er Ora and from there headed straight to Eilat to our zimer.
The second day, Friday, started very late after a long and good night sleep.
We went through Eilat Mountains heading north.
We saw a lot of Rock Hyrax like in this photo

And nice views

It became late and hot again so we decided to go straight to Ramon Crater via the road.
At the crater we looked for a nice spot to eat lunch and drink some tea. We found this huge pipe which is an old Phosphate oven.

After a good rest we headed north and to our homes.
Friday, Muddy Friday.

The Story
This starts with a sad story: Yoav had his bike stolen.
The good news were that he was able to buy a new one shortly after, and it was time for the 1000 Km long engine break in.
Yoav and I took the chance to ride on some fast trails that are perfect for adding kilometers to the odometer.

The Story
Since winter is just around the corner, the days become shorter and almost doesn’t exist if you like to wake up at noon – like me. So we planned to meet up early and ride near the center of Israel just so we can make it on time and get home before the sunset.
We were joined by a new/old member in our trip: Nati – the new member riding on Shira’s Transalp – a Shishvil veteran.

The Story
We rode a part of the Shikma Stream in the past during our visits to the Pura nature reserve last winter. This time we decided to do it as a whole.
Starting from Pura reserve, north to Bet Kama junctions, we headed west to a hill in the area to look for the river route.
The whole route was from east to west, going downstream to the beach.
Pura nature reserve is a great place to visit during spring or winter due to the rich and colorful bloom in the area. This time we went at autumn, the area is dry and clear.
